Stir it UP!

In 2 Timothy 1:6-7, we have verses that the Apostle Paul wrote to encourage young Timothy, but also to spur him on in his mission and fight for the kingdom of God. Listen to these words, “This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” First of all Paul reminded him to “stir it up.” Stir or fan into flames the gift that God had given him. Stir up our passion today, our faith today, our gift today to use it in the kingdom of God. Then remember who we are! God didn’t say that he would give a few people spirits of timidity and fear, but that he would give all of us spirits of power, love and self-discipline. Why  are we eaten up with with fear and timidity— today as we pray, let God stir up, fan into flames the spirit of power in you. Satan is a liar, that’s all he does. He’s lying to you and me right now telling us of the things that we can’t do. He’s lying about how we could never rise up out of our financial setbacks, or never speak that that family member of God and God’s grace. He’s lying telling us that we are not smart enough, good enough or righteousness enough for God to work in us. But God is telling us that we are his and by being his children He has given us a spirit of power, love and self-discipline to do what God has called us to do. Today pray that God will help you overcome the lies and stir into flame the passion that God has given you. To stand up and keep on, keeping on. God give us the discipline to save and pay off the right bills, give us the passion to set out on that dream that we have deep within our souls, to talk to that person we love about God and God’s plan of grace for them. It starts with prayer and moves into action of believing that God is out for our best and by God’s grace and leading we can see satan defeated daily in our lives.
