In the Message it says in Prov. 27:19, “Just as water mirrors your face, so your face mirrors your heart.”
Our hearts reveal the real us. How is your heart today? Have you had a spiritual heart check-up lately? Is your face and life reflecting who God is in your life? No, matter what we are facing, going through, and coming out of, our faces will tell the world what we believe about God during all of these things.
Our hearts even determine what we say about life and other people. Matt. 12:34b (Jesus is talking about the Pharisees and he has called them a brood of vipers, and then he says this): “…For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.” If our hearts are filled with dissatisfaction with our lives, or we are harboring a bad attitude toward someone else, it will come out in our words.
Now here’s my application: Physically, each of us have a unique and entirely different heartbeat. Think about this, out of all the billions of people who have ever lived, there is no one else that has ever had or will have a heartbeat like yours. You and I are wonderfully made with a heart that will determine our thoughts and our words about life and others. Let’s pray today that our hearts will be moved by the love of God no matter what is going on. We will seek to praise Him and lift others up. Let’s pray for God to cleanse our hearts and give us a new one to bring glory to him.
