Trouble Builds Character!

Rick Warren said in his book “Purpose Driven Life”: “He (God) uses circumstances to develop our character. In fact, he (God) depends more on circumstance to make like Jesus than he depends on our reading the Bible. The reason is obvious: You/We face circumstances twenty-four hours a day.” I don’t know whether that is a relief, revelation, or a problem for you today. For me, it is a great relief. I can look at my problems and circumstances today in an entirely different light. I can focus on Jesus and his purpose and plan for my life instead of the circumstances that are happening to me and around me. I can focus and letting God develop his character in me, instead of striving to make it all work out in my favor of comfort or winning in the situation. I need to focus on the reality that I know there is evil in this world and by that admission, that means there are going to be problems constantly in my life. My own sin and the sin of the world around me will continually be attacking my soul and mind to win a war that can be beaten by my focus on Jesus Christ. Peter said, “Don’t be bewildered or surprised when you go through the fiery trials ahead, for this is no strange, unusual thing that is going to happen to you.” 1 Pet. 4:12 (LB). So, let’s be praying today, all day long that we can focus on Jesus when the trials come, when the fire of circumstances begins to attack us, when we feel like we are beaten and must give up, LET’S PRAY TO SEE JESUS AND HIS WORKING IN OUR LIVES!
