Ideas for a Healthy Marriage Pt. 3

This is the month of love and I pray that we are moved by the Holy Spirit to work on our love for God. He is to be our #1 Priority, above all other people and things. Our spouses are to be #2, Children #3 and then everything else fall to 4 and beyond. But for some of us we are constantly in the need for ideas on how to keep God and our spouses in the top priorities. We got up to #25 yesterday, so let me share some more with you this morning. Try putting a couple of these to work today:

#25. Cuddle! (Yes, men – CUDDLE!)

#26. Ask for the other person’s opinion.

#27. Show respect.

#28. Welcome the other person home. (If my dog can go crazy when I get home, I should at least show my wife that I’m happy to have her back home in the evening.)

#29. Look your best. (Try to pick up sometime during the day. Even on our days off, we shower, comb our hair, and try to look good for our spouse.)

#30. Wink at each other.

#31. Celebrate birthdays in a big way. We don’t do this every year, but we celebrate them in some way. (I love to give gifts, so I start celebrating a few days early with a pre-birthday present.)

#32. Forgive! (If we are forgiven by Christ for all I’ve done, I must forgive my spouse.)

#33. Set up a romantic getaway. (Wow! Surprise her men, she will love it.)

#34. Be POSITIVE! (It’s a negative world, and most of the time we come home and complain about things in it or at work, so let’s change the attitude and work at being positive people and celebrating a positive marriage and family.)

#35. Ask, “What can I do to make you happy?” (Not during an argument, but to help make them happy.)

#36. Apologize! Do it soon and often.

There you have 36 ideas to work on. You can also go to our podcast: The Preacher Pod and hear us talk about all of these ideas. Share the podcast with another husband or wife. Let’s pray for our marriage and the others around us today.
