Satan, the Deceiver!

It’s time to get serious about prayer. I have preached for most of my ministry that believers are in a war. A war that is not fought against flesh and blood or on some foreign soil, no it is a war against Satan and his demons. Maybe you’ve never been taught this but Jesus never called lucifer by his personal name but by many names to describe him. Satan, the evil one, the tempter, the destroyer, the deceiver, the great dragon…who deceives the whole world, the ancient servant…who leads the whole world astray, and the devil. He is the perpetrator behind all the evil in our world today. For centuries teachers of the word and believers have taught that in this war we face three enemies of our souls, and it’s not against guns or bombs. It’s not against each other, no matter what your race or gender. No, this evil has lied to us, our three great enemies are Satan and his lies, deceptive ideas, against the flesh, that plays to disordered desires and the world, that are normalized in a sinful society. I’ll say it again (and I guess maybe I should say it every day to myself and to anyone that would listen) Satan is a liar and Jesus pointed out to us that his “purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.” John 10:10. Satan is wreaking havoc on our minds and souls because he is not out to give us happiness or a better life, NO, HE’S OUT TO DESTROY YOU AND YOUR BODY. If he can’t have your soul, he will do whatever he can to destroy your relationship with God and with your family, to use the world and your flesh to kill you. So, we must get on our knees for our minds, the minds of our families, our church, and this world. I promise that today, he’ll hit you with some evil idea, or a subtle idea that you or someone else is a terrible person. He’ll use your desires to make you stumble and the world to tear down your life. Let’s get serious about prayer to lift our souls and minds up and for the Holy Spirit to speak to those taken captive by his lies.
