Let’s pray for revival and let’s pray hard. One of the reasons that we pray for revival and one of the reasons that we don’t experience revival (they are one in the same) is because we have become a dry people. Our personal lives have become parched from the lack of water, spiritual water brought to us and supplied for us by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised that if we would come to him, he would give us water that would overflow to us, in John 7. But have we grown dry because we are not close to Jesus anymore? Dryness comes on our lives because we become distant from Jesus. We move oh so ever slowly, away from Jesus. We want to please people, we want our church to grow, but we want it to grow our way, we will change or be quiet because we don’t want to be insulted or offend people with the word of God. But the secret to revival and this living water is to be closer to Jesus than we ever have before. Isaiah 44:3 says, “For I will pour out water to quench fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing upon your children.” When we get close enough to Jesus, with humble hearts desiring, even desperate for his water, we will begin to experience revival in our souls and that revival will spill out to our families, to our church and most of all to our community with the hope of Jesus Christ. It is time to not be “normal” anymore. It’s time to be “weird” and let God fill us with the fire of revival. Pray hard for revival today, but let it start in you.
