Failure is Inevitable!

Failure is inevitable! We can’t escape it, but we certainly do all we can too. I have read in many places and journals that the only two fears innate fears that we have are: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. So, that means all other fears, the fear of clowns, fear of snakes, darkness, speaking in public and death are all learned fears. Somewhere along the way, the fear that is stopping you from doing something great was learned (of course unless its jumping out of a plane or going to a rock concert and standing in front of the speakers) and now we must unlearn that fear.
That is when the real work must begin. Unlearning something is harder by far than learning or obtaining your worst fear. A few weeks ago we looked at David and Goliath (1 Sam. 17). Goliath was 9 ft. 9 in. tall and the Champion of the Philistine army. That means he had defeated all other combatants and was a fearless warrior himself. For 40 days he’s been challenging the Israelite army to a one on one battle. And so far, no one from the army had thought themselves brave enough to take the challenge. Even the one that should of been out fighting the giant in the first place – King Saul, general of Israel’s armies.

Along comes a boy, a boy that testified that he had killed the lion and the bear in protecting and shepherding his father’s sheep. This young man, David, didn’t see Goliath’s taunts as a challenge to him or to the armies of Israel, he saw it as an out right defiance of God in heaven. David had learned long ago, that to overcome a fear you have to challenge it or run at it. It’s the only way to unlearn on thing and learn another.
If we are ever going to overcome, we must face our fears and take them down by attacking them. Running away from them will only let the fear grow larger and larger, and paralysis us!
So, we must seize the day and take on our fears! We have the Spirit of God flowing through our veins and our hearts. The same Spirit that created the world, enabled David to conquer and raised Jesus from the dead! That Spirit wants to reign in your life and bring glory to God. He will only let you fail when you don’t attack! So, today: ATTACK! And let’s see the victory that God has in store for you.
